Understanding Right to Privacy

I come across this atricle on the right to privacy. It is pretty good, not long nor is it very dry. I recall during a photojournalism class this issue came up. Perhaps it is worth your reading.

Got some free time? If so, read the article Understanding Right to Privacy, by Nancy Wolff.

Canon releases EOS 50D firmware version 1.0.3

The update incorporates the following fixes:
• Corrects a phenomenon in which an image becomes overexposed.

• Corrects a rare phenomenon in which "busy" blinks on the display panel and the shutter cannot be released due to timing of battery installation.

• Corrects a rare phenomenon in which "Err 99" appears on the camera's display panel and LCD monitor and the shutter cannot be released due to the timing of pressing the shutter button...

MAC on Campus

The Mac on Campus presentation went well today. The medium formats are awesome and leaf has come a long way.

If you missed the presentation then check out the web site here.

Scanners

This topic surfaced in class and I thought I would post a few links to some scanners.

Epson has a few, the Epson Expression 1000-photo , the Expression 1000 - Graphic and the Prefection 750M-Pro .

And of course you have the Hasslblad, but I am sure they have a hefty price tag.

Good luck with the large format cameras.

Leaf Watch 2008

Lace up your hiking boots and come enjoy some of Georgia's most beautiful state parks. The parks have posted weekly updates on fall color, giving tips on the best hikes and overlooks. Who says cooler weather means it’s time to hibernate? Grab your camera, your mountain bike or whatever else you need - and Get Out. Get Dirty. Get Fit. Check out the Leaf Watch 2008.

This is HEAVY!

Gracie a four year old from Oakwood was determined to find her prefect pumpkin at Uncle Shucks pumpkin patch. She poked, kicked and looked under them until she found her prize pumpkin. BUT, it was too HEAVY!

I posted the entire search on flickr.

Reflections

Assignment 2, AntonioAs promised in an earlier post, the reflections photos are on flckr. Most of them are the pre-shot, except I didn't really have one of the entire set. Kevin helped the reflection and lighting adjustments which was great. Check them out here.

One more thing. The adjustments might be wacked a bit, my computer and flickr do not see pixel to pixel. I have to make minor adjustments to them when I place them on flckr.

Angel with a Rose

angel with rose

I thought this was a prefect photo for a colored rose with a b/w background. Outside of a few pieces of grass and the bronze plate on the left, the background was already black and white. Well, so to speak anyway. Clean up the rose and bingo!

Feel free to check out my other photos on flickr, just click here

Reflections

As some of you know, I did a reflection for the child photo. Reflections are tricky! You see if you don't get the angle of the mirror correct you could end up with the wrong reflection! Thanks Kevin for all the help.

High Key

Today's shoot went well. We had a great room! It was the wood shop. As you can see from the photo above, which was also my set-up, how much room we had. The best thing was we didn't have to move a thing. I did a high key of a mime. Hopefully, I will have them finished and posted shortly. Also, thanks to Jose (model), Sam, John, and Ms. Harkins for their assistance.

Holiday Portrait Set

Starting the dayToday's set building went well. I think we all learned a few things about set building.

Folks were even shooting for their blogs. Of course some of us were shooting people shooting for their blogs.

For updates and details check out the GTC Holiday link. Sorry about the fuzzyness; the room was a tad on the dark side causing long exposures. Yes, I should have adjusted the camera, but I might have lost the unstaged shoots.

Do SnoozingAnd well some of us had a long day. Keep checking back, more to come...

New Series

I have decided to start work on a new series of photos thoughout the winter. Hopefully, I will be finished by late spring or early summer. Check back often for updates on it.

Car Farm

And you thought cars were made in factories. Well, in Arkansas it appears that they plant'em!

Actually, I found this car monument in Arkansas (I40) on my last road trip. The local gas station says folks go out and paint their name on the cars. Perhaps it is a momument to the cars or hang outs of yesteryear. Not sure but if your ever out that way be sure to take your paint!

Hokey ... Pokey

Looking at my blog this morning I noticed my hokey pokey dancer was missing. I must have forgotten to post him. Overlook the darkness, use a flashlight if need be.

So, here he is and lets all sing together,

You put the left foot in and take the right foot out and shake it all about...

Meet Jade, she was my model for the pet of the year.

Taking time out of her busy schedule, Jade stopped by for a quick photo shoot.

Meewoow!

Ok so she wasn't the pet of the year, but she was my model for the pet shot.
