Something is a cooking at Canon

Canon got another one in on us. When canon released their new Rebel the EOS Rebel T1i EF-S 18-55mm IS Kit, it appears they also released a new flash, the Speedlite 270ex. From what I gather the Speedlite 270ex is made for the new Rebel. Canon seems to be back a track with updating their cameras. Who know perhaps Canon will shoot for another year of six in the top ten. For more on the Canon products checkout thier website by clicking here.

Food Photography - test

beer bottleI have been working on some of the food photography stuff giving it a try here and there. It seems to work; see the water droplets on the bottle. However, I did modify the method verses the instructions in the hand outs. Perhaps the ice cream will be next.

Nice day

Pine ConeToday was interesting. Do had a session with a client to do some head shots, I was going to assist him. Well, the client decided they could not make it, so Do and I went on a stroll around Lake Lanier. Man it was a nice day! And see what I found to shoot (picture). Poor little pine cone all by itself. You know I adjust and adjust but no matter what I do Flickr still seems to make the image shift.

Updating Flickr

Red and Green PeppersI am still updating some old files. These were some peppers I took back in the first commercial class. Although, they had some problems, I still liked the peppers. I am trying to find some peppers that are really close in shape so I can re-shoot them. Maybe I'll find 'em. To see the full flickr click here.

Sinar arTec

I have been looking at the large formats and thinking about picking one up. However, I want one that can take me into the digital age. I found the Sinar ar Tec, what a camera. Have you looked at this camera? It is awesome. A professional camera for digital architectural photography with freedom of all displacements from close range to infinity.
Take some time and read about it. (click here)

Farming out your printing

Some of you have asked about these folks since the first post a few months back. During the break I thought it might be a good time for you to check them out, take'em for a test run, send them a photo or something like that. They do a good job and the best thing is they are local. So, if you have a beef go chat with them. They are on the way to E6, off of exit 91. I have had 8 x 10s, 11 x 14s and 16 x 20s printed and edge mounted and they came out nice. You can take the work to them or upload it and have it shipped to the address you choose. BTW, did I mention these folks are printers. Their website is: www.myphotopipe.com

JD with some fine cigars

JD with some fine CigarsMy spirits photo. JD was chosen for my session and I was hoping to get a barrel, but to my surprise they are out of this world expensive. Of course, as with every thing else when you need it now it can not be found. Yep, Atlanta the big town in the south does not have a barrel manufacture. Seems like you could find an old oak barrel in the South. Anyway, make your comments if you wish, or visit my other collections by clicking here.

New Post, Old Photo

Ball and GloveMost of you have already seen this, but for those that have not this was or is my still life. I went back and forth from old ball, old glove, bat , newer glove, newer bat, newer ball and finally went with his. This was taken with the 210mm (4x5) at extremely close range. My next few post will be a recap of my recent work, incase some did not see it and would like to comment. However, if you wish not to wait, then simply click here.

PMA 2009: Canon Slips Out a Pair of New Tilt Shift Lenses

It appears while we were busy with class work and shooting, Canon slipped out a new set of tilt and shift lenses. (sneaky...) A 17mm tilt and shift, can't wait to see the images. To read the full article click here.

Life Style

Here is my diggi back-up of the Life Style photo. This was a good assignment. It reminded me of hanging out in the mountains waiting for the sun to light your subject.

Sea World, Sorry missed the snow!

I went to Sea World this weekend and I missed the snow you folks had. Actually, I did see some of it in Macon which by comparision had far more snow. I'm sorry no photos to share with you, you see my camera or I should say my CF card did not like the smell of sea water or the action on the washing machine then the dryer so it deleted all of my images in protest. But I had a good time!
